*sigh of relief*
I lost weight this week.
2.4 pounds.
My starting weight was 204. I’m now at 181. Hopefully by next week I’ll be below 180. Yipee!
(To see my “before” pictures, see, You’ve Got to Start Somewhere.)
I tell people all the time–you’ve got to trust the process. Trust the process. Don’t give up if you have a week where you maintain or even gain.
Easier said than done!
But all the little tweeks & extra attention to detail paid off. Like focusing on eating these foods.
I know WIAW (what I ate Wednesdays) posts are popular in the blogosphere. But that’s never really been my thing. I don’t like to be put up to that level of scrutiny, but I understand why it’s become popular–inquiring minds want to know, “what DO you eat???”
So, in WIAW-ish fashion, here’s a recap of some of my fave quickie meals from this past week. These all fit the bill for volume eating, meaning you can eat a lot of these foods!
They don’t even require much by way of a recipe.
(I have lots more of these ideas in my ebook.)
First, to start the day, a buckwheat berry bowl.
(A variation of my buckwheat berry superfoods porridge.)
Super filling!! And I know, grated carrots is a little weird for some folks. But I like the added texture & color.
To make: cook 1/2 cup buckwheat groats (hulled) or grits in 2 cups water. Once cooked, add 1/2 chopped apple, 1 cup frozen or fresh berries (defrost berries first), & one carrot, grated. Add some cinnamon & a few packets of stevia or a sprinkling of coconut sugar to taste.
Second, a mid-morning or afternoon pick-me-up: a highly alkalaine orange carrot celery blend.
A lot of afternoons I’m hankering for a little something, but it’s not quite dinner time. This sort of thing hits the spot, especially on a warm sunny afternoon.
To make, blend:
1 orange, peeled
juice of 1/2 lemon
2 medium carrots
4 stalks celery
1/2 cup water
1 cup ice
2 packets stevia
Third, avocado & siracha topped rice cakes + my daily very green hempy smoothie (recipe in my ebook).
Yes, that little muchkin in the background is Salem, my green smoothie partner in crime–she loves them!
Fourth, balsamic kale, baked potato & salsa, & sauteed green beans.
I got some wicked awesome salsa at Costco (not their brand, which I don’t care for) which I find every excuse to use.
I used one, 16 oz. frozen bag of kale (yay for frozen veggies–no spoilage, no washing, or cutting–win, win, & win) & seasoned with sundry amounts of seasonings & balsamic vinegar. The green beans are the frozen organic kind from Costco, sauteed in a bit of avocado oil & seasoned with garlic & salt.

My free workout videos!
Awhile back I worked really hard & put together 14 (yes 14!) workout videos for you. They range from 4-20 minutes long & include cardio, yoga, Pilates, strength/toning, & abs. I designed them especially with you in mind. I know we’re all short on time, but I know you can squeeze in a 5 or 10 or 20 minute workout each day.
♥
It’s been a busy, full week & can I say, everything seems to be coming together. I’m so excited for the weeks & months ahead here on bring joy.
(I have some fun surprises & things in store that I can’t wait to share with you!).
You add so much with your insightful comments. Though I don’t/can’t always respond to each & every comment (though I do try!), I read & appreciate each one. Thank you for taking the time to contribute. This space wouldn’t be what it is without you.
Hope you have a splendid weekend.
P.S. Fit, Strong, Lean: The Fitness Plan ebook update:
You know that movie A Few Good Men–“you can’t handle the truth!”? Well, Joseph is Tom Cruise (I know, super sexy, right?). Well of course not really, what I mean is, in real life, he’s Tom Cruise’s character in A Few Good Men. Many of you may know he’s a JAG lawyer for the Air Force (unlike Tom Cruise’s character who was a Marines JAG).
He’s been working on a mega-huge trial case for the past 8 months & it’s finally going to trial next week. So he’s been bearing down & working doubly hard this past week (yesterday he put in 15 hours–poor guy!). The reason why I’m telling you this is, I haven’t finished up the fitness ebook for this reason.
Many of you wonder how I can do what I do with 5 kids. It’s because of Joseph’s support. We’re a team. So the past few weeks, with him not around much, I haven’t been able to work on my side projects (like the fitness ebook) like I’ve wanted. So, I’ve decided, no more deadlines. I will get the ebook out to you when I get it out. Which, hopefully will be soon :). Thanks for understanding!
