Part 6 of the series.
If you don’t know: My husband, Joseph is training to be a JAG officer for the U.S. Air Force. His training takes him away from us late August to just before Christmas. This is another installment of our correspondence.

Dear,
I can’t believe it’s been 3 months since we last saw you. Much has changed. You won’t believe how much Salem talks & Mali’s hair is getting so long.
I loved talking with you this morning. Isn’t it exciting to be starting a new chapter of our lives?
The thing I’ve missed most since you’ve been gone, aside from you (of course), is the stability that you give to our lives. We are all much more grounded when you’re around.
I so appreciate that you’ve always been willing, even eager to listen to me rant & rave about anything & everything as we’ve been apart. I never want to be a naggy, grimpy, or grumpy wife. But sometimes, I am. Fortunately, I know I can’t be that way for very long, married to you.
Your faith in me, the trust you grant me, is liberating & at the same time, that trust & love makes me want to always treat you with the utmost respect & consideration. I know I don’t always live up to that, forgive me. I know that I can have an “off” day, that I can say what I feel like needs to be said, & that we can talk. That no subject is off topic. I always feel better when we talk.
I love how we just can’t seem to keep secrets from each other.
Like I said over the phone, I wanted my new hair color to be a surprise when we meet up in D.C., but I was just too excited & wanted to show you. Hopefully these give you a better idea of just how dark my hair is. I think I like it. I hope you do too.
We’ll miss you this holiday. Thanksgiving, as you’ve said before, is one of the best holidays. Not because of the food (I’ve always loved how you don’t care to eat turkey), but because it’s about giving thanks. A whole day to give thanks, together.
We’ll be up in the mountains with my brothers & my parents, so we won’t get to talk tomorrow. But know I appreciate you more than I ever have.
Only a few more days until D.C. (!!)
