Happy Veteran’s Day.
Thinking of all those who have sacrificed their lives so I can live in freedom, in this great country. Made especially poignant this year, since Joseph is now active duty military & is away from our family at this time.
Thank heavens for all the service men & women who give up so much for our freedoms.

More things:
♥ I just go my hands on a LBD (little black dress) in preparation for my trip to D.C. in 2 weeks (!). Joseph has a few fancy-schmanzy military galas (not even sure what they’re called, I’m such a newbie) in which I will be his date. Super, duper, excited. (& I have a lunch/yoga date with this girl!).
♥ My good friend Joy, just launched a new look for her site, Frock Files. It’s gorgeous–don’t you think?
♥ Peanut butter in a tofu scramble? I think I just may try.
♥ Can you relate? Do you find yourself tearing up at commercials, songs, little, silly things? Meg, on crying.
♥ An interesting read: an op-ed piece from the NY Times–showing affection/relationships & being organized, key to a happy life.
♥ Leanne, of Healthful Pursuit is doing a 2 week cleanse (remember when I did?). Check out what she’s eating.
♥ EFB (especially for bloggers): How much is too much? Great conversation about what to share, from Sandra & Jen, over at Rainforest Cottage.
♥ For Thanksgiving eats ideas, may I recommend checking out Cara’s Cravings clean eating cocktail party & Tasty Yummies A Very Tasty Thanksgiving. {I was honored to contribute to both: pumpkin caramel blondie bars & clementine ginger almond rice.}
♥ Have you ever listened to NPR’s Fresh Air? Terry Gross makes the show with her genuine warmth & her ability to ask pointed (sometimes very personal) questions. I just feel like I’m getting to eavesdrop on an intimate conversation between two friends having coffee. I listen to podcasts late at night while folding laundry.
Three recent interviews I loved:
Stephen Colbert 10/24/12. Did you know he was the youngest of 11 kids?! He shares a few insights into his childhood, & some of his experiences with his brothers & sisters are hilarious.
Regina Spektor 8/27/12. I’m a fan of her ecletic, siren-esque voice, her singer songwriter style. But after I listened to this interview I appreciate her even more. She’s down-to-earth, extremely intelligent yet humble. She said she used to drive her parents crazy singing to herself & that her parents had classical music playing all the time. Also, did you know she’s Russian, Jewish, & moved to the states when was 9?
Mindy Kaling 9/25/12. Oh this girl, is uniquely funny. She’s a rarity in Hollywood–Indian, female, funny. And not a size 0. She was “discovered” when someone saw her performing in a play, became a writer/actor for “The Office” just out of college & now is producing/writing/acting in her own show. I really enjoyed getting to know her better. Fave quote from the interview (paraphrasing here): “I guess I’m just one of those old-fashioned people who really think that their parents are amazing.”
