Salem, at abuelito’s (grandpas) “farm”
♥♥♥
Last week was the best week since Joseph has been gone.
What made all the difference? More sleep, less time online, & personal time in the morning before anything else. That was the difference, & it made all the difference. It makes me sad that I can’t keep up with responding to each comment (but know that I read each & every comment & will respond as I can) & reading all blog posts of my fave blogs. But if it means a better reality for me & my family, it’s worth the trade off.
I know I keep saying this, but I’m amazed at the amount of amazing information, projects, & recipes that exist online. So much stuff, it’s overwhelming sometimes, isn’t it?
I don’t want to add more to your to-do list. But rather, I hope my links & shares will help make your life easier.
These are things that I’ve found to be interesting, yummy, helpful, &/or funny.
They’ve passed the bring joy test.

♥ Do you have a toddler or baby? Here are 5 non-monster-mash age appropriate fun Halloween songs for your little one. So cute.
♥ An interesting, thought-provoking excerpt from a new memoir from Emily Wierenga, on battling an eating disorder.
♥ Do you own a cast iron skillet? I love mine. I think everyone needs one. The Blissful Chef is featuring cast iron as her cooking tool of the month this month. Check out this delicious dessert with bananas. Don’t you think it would pair lovely with some creamy vanilla bean ice cream?
♥ Good to know, thoughts from Meg.
♥ Naming babies: my friend Elise (if you’re a mom, you have to read her blog, it’s hilarious & sweet), talks about naming babies here & here.
♥ Oh Lady Cakes does it again. Her talk about fats is spot on & that raw fig cheescake looks A-mazing. Amazing.
♥ A fun, “spooky” Halloween-ish, kid-friendly way to eat spaghetti–stuffed Jack-o’-lanterns from Leanne.
♥ Remember Dr. Laura?
She had a show on talk radio for years & years. I listened to her mainly during my junior & senior years of high school during a commute to community college classes.
Whatever you may think of her, she’s got one thing right. Men. She totally gets men (which feminists see as a threat & anti-feminist).
I’ve read The Proper Care & Feeding of Husbands. I have to re-read this book on a regular basis to help me avoid slipping back into the whiny, nagging tendencies that happen naturally as a mom. I’m currently reading Woman Power (the book is not new, just never read it before), & am reminded how taking care of our husbands is a rather simple, straight forward, & extremely rewarding process.
This post also got me thinking about how making time to connect is so important.
