I’ve been wanting to start a new feature to this blog, some sort of weight loss/vegan challenge.
If you’re needing to lose weight and/or have been wanting to transition fully to a plant-based/vegan diet and needing the perfect time to do so, here it is!
Introducing (drumroll)… the 12 week vegan challenge.
The winner of the contest will get:
1. A $50 gift certificate to my Amazon store.
2. A starter kit for the Wellness Forum breakfast shake, which includes:
- 1 canister of JuicePlus Complete.
- 1 canister of Wellness Forum food-grade young green tea leaves
- 1 pound WF Brewer’s Yeast
- 1 pound golden flaxseed
3. The Wellness Forum’s Big & Healthy Cookbook.
(All items are about $150 value!)
The runner-up will win a $25 gift certificate to my Amazon store.
Here’s the criteria:
This is for anyone who wants to transition to a vegan diet and/or wants to lose weight.
1. The 12 weeks will begin anytime between today January 11 and January 18 and end Monday April 5. In order to officially enter, go to this post and comment. Declare yourself! Put down your weight loss/tranistion goal(s) and share a bit about how you are going to achieve it. Also, become a follower of this blog if you aren’t already.
2. For weight loss: You do not need to become a strict vegan to enter this contest. However, to enter, you need to be doing some sort of oil-free, plant-based diet (Dr. McDougall’s Maximum Weight Loss, Wellness Forum’s Accelerated Weight Loss, Dr. Ornish’s program, Esselstyn diet, Engine 2 diet, ect.). I encourage you to become a member of the Wellness Forum, check out Dr. McDougall’s site, and/or get a the Engine 2 Diet. You need to have before and after pictures, that you wouldn’t mind other people seeing. Also, body measurements would be helpful to you but are optional.
3. Each week, on Mondays “check in” with the rest of us and report on your progress (doesn’t have to be lengthy, a few sentences will do). Every Monday will the vegan challenge day, giving you an opportunity to post a comment on your weight loss and/or transition.
5. Submit your before and after pictures, including a short essay on your experience (did you meet your goals? what did you learn?) to me by April 5. For weight loss (and for the vegan transition, if you want), include vital stats, like height, beginning weight and ending weight.
6. Winner and runner-up will be chosen not based on how much weight you lost per se or if you were successful at eating a 100% vegan diet, but rather, your essay (what you learned, how you changed, ect.). Make sure to comment weekly until April 5.
7. Remember, the goal here is to get healthy. Get fit. Lose weight and maintain it. Not through fad dieting or starving yourself, but by eating a whole foods (hence oil-free) plant based diet. As with any changes you may make to your diet or lifestyle, I recommend consulting a knowledgeable health care practitioner.
