The best of chocolate: 10 fave gluten-free & vegan recipes

10-gluten-free-vegan-chocolate-recipes-bring-joy above, my raspberry black forest brownies

 Pregnancy cravings can be weird.

The other day I wanted leftover skillet potatoes, green olives, & siracha sauce–for breakfast.

Every day is a bit different, & I try to eat as intuitively as I can (even if it is “weird”).

Sometimes I just want a HUGE leafy green salad drenched in a lemon vinaigrette. Other times I crave a thick chocolate milkshake (vegan, of course). Or a big bowl of hearty chili. Sometimes I can eat a ton, other times I’m FULL after a few bites.

Pregnancy is roller coaster of cravings, emotions, & a rapidly changing body. It’s also a time, in my opinion, to relish the beauty of creating a new life. I’d like to think that what I’m feeding my body is helping to create a super-duper gorgeous & healthy baby, so I want to make sure I’m doing my best to feed it right.

Which brings me to chocolate.

Lately I’ve been craving chocolate anything. Also, did I mention avocados? I sometimes eat it straight out of the skin, with a sprinkling of salt. Or I throw them into salad, soup, spread it on a rice cake or bread. So chocolate & avocados. Though so hard, I’m going to trust my body when it says it wants those things.

Since I’ve been in a chocolate-loving mood, I thought it was time to do another best of (the last two were: pumpkin & autumn, if you missed them).

Here’s my 10 ten list–all vegan & gluten-free

everything looks lovely – I love anything chocolate but when pregnant I was totally off it and just wanted salty food – as soon as no longer pregnant I just wanted chocolate again – odd how the body can change like that

P.S. I enjoy almost every variety of dark chocolate. With nuts, fruit, mint, plain, with cocoa nibs. I’ve always marvel at the comment, “It’s too rich.” I don’t think I’ve come across a chocolate dessert too rich.

I agree! I didn’t use to like dark chocolate (as a kid). My favorite brand of organic chocolate is Green & Black. I also love salted dark chocolate with almonds. Pretty much my fave (if there was such a thing 🙂 ).

Um, how did I miss this post?

Chocolate is my soul’s muse, my nemesis, my obsession and my challenge.

Thankfully I’ve always preferred dark chocolate so becoming vegan was no big deal for my favorite indulgence.

Thank you for the recipe roundup. I’ll be trying several throughout the season. 🙂

That is an attitude I believe has rubbed off on me from my husband. He believes a bag of cheetos should be followed up by a bag of carrots, & then all is balanced out 🙂

I certainly don’t need any encouragement to love chocolate. . . but these are just way over the top!!! Holy YUM! I think I’ll have the shake for breakfast, the fudge for a snack, the coconut bars for lunch, the pie for dessert. . . etc! Sounds like the perfect day to me. 😉 Thanks for including my brownie recipe, too! 😀 xo
