How was your Thanksgiving?

Ours was spent up in the mountains.

We rented a lodge & cabins & spent 3 days playing games, cooking (& eating), playing in the snow.  I did quite a bit of reading (almost finished with The Shoemaker’s Wife–so good!) & crocheting.

Here’s a snippet of our Thanksgiving: my brother’s doing a little post-Thanksgiving dinner dancing in the kitchen.

To share:

This year we’re having a very scaled back Christmas (due to our revised budget/life).

For starters, since we’ll be in the midst of moving, then unpacking right before Christmas, we won’t be putting up our decorations for Christmas until right before the holiday.

For gifts, our budget is small & I’m trying to make most of our gifts.  I think some of the best gifts are homemade.  I’m sewing the kids super hero capes & making DIY books on CD (with me reading, of course).

Even if you don’t have time to make your own gifts, there are so many great Etsy & Big Cartel shops & I absolutely love the handcrafted touch.  For the next few weeks, I’ll be featuring a few finds & DIY projects I think are share worthy.

♥ I love these adorable adornments from Migration Goods.

For neighbors:  Great DIY edible gifts,  rawtella (vegan version of Nutella) & cinnamon roll almond butter

For kids:  I love this DIY idea for play grocery store food.  (maybe you could use vegan, healthier, packaged foods?)

♥ DIY Luxe Gift Tags (I think this would be perfect as a gift card holder & tucked into a stocking)

DIY Snowman Handprint Ornaments (great toddler/mom project)

♥ I love this easy, frugal, thankful way to decorate your tree

& for you typography lovers out there, I ♥ this font (& it’s free).

Today I’m getting things together for my D.C. trip.  I’m driving to Portland this afternoon & flying out to D.C. to spend the week there with Joseph.

I have a big surprise Christmas-y giveaway post scheduled for tomorrow.  I’m excited to share–I love being able to give stuff away to you guys.

I may not get a chance to peek back in before next week other than to announce the giveaway winners, but I will post updates & pics of the trip on twitter & facebook.

Thanks for coming to bring joy today!

Did you know I’m also on twitterpinterest, & facebook?
