Eating out as a vegan….

Requires some creativity.

Especially as a whole foods vegan (french fries and soda pop, are vegan, for example, but not exactly up my alley).

Here’s a little snippet of eating out with me a few weeks ago.

This takes place at Ottavio’s (which sadly closed last week, sniffle…) a very RICH (ie. sausage, chicken, and lots of cheese and cream based dishes) Italian restaurant. This dish was not on the menu. They didn’t have whole wheat pasta, but hey, you do the best you can. I also specifically asked to have my veggies sauteed in water (no oil). They were very accommodating. Lovely place.

Proof that you can order a healthful dish nearly anywhere (except for Chili’s, believe me, I tried), you just have to get creative and tell ’em what you want.

I went to Quizno's once and was very specific about my veggie sub. I turned my head for one second and back again and the men at the counter were laughing hysterically. "What are you laughing at?" I asked. Of course they said nothing and I paid for my sandwich. I found a piece of ham in my sandwich hidden under a tomato. Let's just say those two guys don't have a job anymore…I'm always afraid someone will sabotage me when it comes to my specific food instructions…

Yum looks good! I guess you can't be shy to do that, huh? ๐Ÿ˜‰ btw your hair looks so cute with that hair band. Oh, and I saw that we are reading the same book–Last Child in the Woods–I've had it on my bedstand for a few weeks and haven't gotten too far yet-I better get on it before I have to return!
